    Featuring more contemporary music, Alice Tully Hall regularly hosts a mix of music, dance, theater, and video. Philip Glass is a regular entertainer here. In addition, the Chamber Music Society performs year round here.

Avery Fisher Hall

    The annual Mostly Mozart festival at Avery Fisher Hall features performers like Itzhak Perlman, Jean Pierre Rampal, and other greats. If you're planning on going, show up early -- most performers give half hour pre-concert recitals, beginning one hour before the main concert and free to ticketholders. In addition, Avery Fisher is the home of the New York Philharmonic, which performs there from September through June.

    Since 1977, Bargemusic has been showcasing chamber music on a 102-foot long converted barge on the Brooklyn waterfront. "A wood-paneled room with spectacular views of the lower Manhattan skyline and the East River. In an effort to maintain the intimacy of each concert, seating is limited to 125 persons."

Carnegie Hall

    The original home of the New York Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall was saved from demolition during the 1960s. Today, it's a world famous musical treasure right in the heart of Manhattan. Concerts from September to June, tickets $10-$40.

The Juilliard School of Music

    The Lincoln Center "campus" also includes one of the world's finest schools of music, Juilliard. Paul Recital Hall hosts free student recitals almost daily during the school year. Orchestral recitals faculty performances, chamber music, and dance events also take place regularly here.

From October through May, the Great Performers series brings some of the world's finest musicians to New York. Miller Theater at Columbia University

    Columbia School for the Arts hosts a range of Classical and Jazz musicians, plus lectures, dance and other performances. Tickets are generally $15 - $25. Subway: 1, 9 to 116th St.

MOMA Summer Contemporary Classical Music Garden

    On most summer weekends, the Museum of Modern Art "Summergarden" program presents free concerts of "avante-garde" contemporary classical music in the museum's newly-redesigned Sculpture Garden.

Symphony Space

    Currently under construction. Symphony Space holds all kinds of cultural events year-round. The performance season (Sept. through June) boasts classical and contemporary ethnic music from around the world. The annual Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta is always a favorite.
